In Spain, Madrid is a city as well as a region... However, both Governments do not realize that people do not understand this, specifically, when they live abroad. Polititians need urgently a intensive program of branding.

In this fluid world where regions are loosing power (by the way, also polititians) and we as individuals are more empathic with other people because of their value agendas and behaviors, this mess is helping nobody... neither for turist, nor business people, nor inhabitants...

In addition to this, several brands are copies of others... A good analogy for this situation is to consider that we could save a drowned using a lifesaver of mercury (is heavier than lead!)

And this is happening worlwide... Few cities, countries and/or regions have been working in their brands with long term vision, thinking of people... doing branding

It´s a pleasure continue talking about the same things that we commented in class (in Salamanca). Now I remember your lessons jaja!

I´ll try to leave more comments here, because I think it´s worth, furthermore I practise my English (I need it).

    hello cristian,

I'm not sure of what you think of any of those designs. Not knowing of the region, I don't know the significance of the hand - without meaning the hand doesn't have much significance to me...the hand closing with the M at the bottom almost looks like it is saying stop, don't come in you are absolutely right.. there needs to be collaborated thought given to this important branding. - mark

    Hi! Thanks for your comments...

Some of these designs have a meaning!... (The hand is trying to say hello!... however, people use to understand it as you did!)

Actually, I like some of them... However, my point is (and you can see this situation around the world) that several visual expresions talking about the same region produce confusion... and there after, rejection...

And this is without taking into consideration issues as visual contamination, over-exposition...
